Seals are widely used in various mechanical industries, although the seal is small, it is an indispensable key component. The stability of seal performance ensures the normal operation of mechanical equipment. So how to judge the quality of seals?


① Tensile strength of seal material

The tensile strength of all elastomer seals is lower than that of other seals. When the tensile strength decreases, due to the influence of the surrounding environment or lower than normal values, the elastomer will be damaged.


② Tensile strength of seal material

When elastomer is sealed, its compression deformation is one of the important parameters. Compression deformation is the measurement standard for the dimensional recovery of seals after compression. In the case of constant pressure loads, compressive deformation is not very important. However, when the pressure load is applied, removed, and re-applied, the parameter of compressive deformation becomes so important.


③ The hardness resistance of the seal material

Elastomer rubber seals form different hardness points. For example, the Shaw hardness range of O-shaped seals is usually 60 to 90 hardness units. While the stiffer O-ring has good extrusion resistance, the stiffer O-ring has lower burst or sliding friction properties.


④ Temperature resistance of sealing material

The temperature range of the rubber seal is an important parameter. Not only should we consider the temperature of the hot state (resistance to high temperature), but also the use temperature of the cold state (cooling performance, resistance to low temperature). In the case of heat (resistance to high temperature), at some point the sealing material will begin to soften (this is the resistance to high temperature) or chemical substance changes. In the case of cold (but performance, low temperature resistance) temperature use, the sealing material will begin to harden at a certain point, so that the sealing ring becomes brittle to the sealing ring cracks.
