Hydraulic seals

Hydraulic seal system is a general term for the sealing system (seal) used to describe the moving parts of hydraulic equipment (common reciprocating motion). Depending on the application, different types of seals can be combined. Usually can be divided into piston seals, piston rod seals, piston and piston rod dual-purpose seals, dust rings and guide elements.


Dust ring

The function of the dust ring is to prevent the intrusion of dust, dirt, sand and metal debris. It can greatly protect the guide element and extend the service life of the seal. The diameter of the interference volume allows the seal to fit closely in the groove, thereby preventing the intrusion of external particles and moisture.

Applied range: Especially suitable for cylinder rod sealing, such as control cylinders, servo equipment, machine tools and high-speed cylinders。

Single-acting, U-shaped design of rubber material. Although the cross section and height of the seal are small, because the contact area of the sealing surface is very short, the friction is low, and no retainer or support is required. Used in pneumatic systems for lubrication.

Applied range: Recommended for plungers, piston rods, valve stems, and valve stems.

Rotary seal

Piston installation guide

Grooves should be carefully cleaned and deburred. The leading edge of the cylinder shall be provided with an inlet bevel. When installing the piston seal ring, it is susceptible to shear from the lead-in bevel. (See Figure 1). We recommend that when the cylinder diameter is less than or equal to 230mm, reference should be made to Figure 2 or "Detail A". When the seal is small, due to its easy distortion, the cylinder diameter is less than 30mm should be used open groove.
First install the O-ring in the groove, for the diameter of less than or equal to 100mm, the wall thickness of more than 1.6mm seals, should use the installation tool to slowly stretch it. (See Figure 3)
Preheating of hydraulic oil at 60 ° C is also conducive to installation.Large circles can be stretched by hand.However, uneven stretching and over-stretching should be avoided under all circumstances.
If it is indeed necessary to stretch the sealing ring beyond the guide ring grooves, then the grooves should be covered by plastic tape or the expanded mandrel used must cover the gaps passed. This ensures that the piston seal ring is not placed in the wrong groove.
When the piston is difficult to install because the PTFE seal ring is stretched, or the lead Angle length of the cylinder is not wide enough,It is recommended to use a smooth sleeve for sizing.(See Figure 4)
These assembly tools can be made of metal materials, but in many cases polyamide materials can also be used.




Rod seal installation instructions

Grooves should be carefully cleaned and deburred. The leading edge of the piston rod shall be provided with a guide Angle.
When the diameter of the piston rod is less than 30mm, the open groove should be used. Because this kind of sealing ring is easy to twist and break.
First, the O-ring must be fitted into the groove. The piston rod seal is then carefully bent into a kidney shape, and excessive local bending is avoided. The bent seal ring is placed in a groove and can be restored to round shape with the help of an auxiliary tool.
Refer to the figure below: Another auxiliary installation tool is a conical metal rod with a hole at one end. The PTFE ring is placed on the small end of the cone rod, and the cone rod is removed by rotating, and the PTFE ring is naturally pressed into the groove and restored to the circle.
